The Department of Pediatrics at Astrakhan State Medical University is governed by the Dean of the Faculty, whose work is carried out in accordance with the Model Regulation №264 of educational institutions of higher professional education of the Russian Federation, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation, and the University Charter dated 05.04.2001. The Faculty operates under the oversight of the Faculty Council, ensuring that all educational, scientific, and clinical activities meet the highest standards of medical education in Russia.

The Faculty of Pediatrics consists of the following departments:

  1. Obstetrics and Gynecology

  2. Pediatrics

  3. Dental, Medical, and Preventive Care

  4. Internal Diseases of Pediatrics and Dentistry

  5. Children’s Surgery

  6. Propaedeutics of Childhood Diseases with the Course of Childhood Infections

  7. Faculty and Hospital Pediatrics

  8. Surgical Diseases of Pediatric and Dental Faculties

The main specialty offered by the Faculty is 31.05.02, Pediatrics, approved by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation as per the draft order of 17.01.2014 and the State Committee of the Russian Federation. The qualification awarded to graduates is Doctor, Pediatrician General Practitioner. The normative term of study is six years with full-time training.

The training of future pediatricians at Astrakhan State Medical University is conducted in strict compliance with the federal educational standards of higher professional education, approved by the Civil Code of the Russian Federation for Higher Education and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (09.03.2000). The programs of all departments of the Faculty are fully aligned with state educational standards, ensuring that graduates are highly competent in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for pediatric care.

Students at the Faculty of Pediatrics benefit from extensive clinical training in university hospitals and affiliated medical centers, which provides them with hands-on experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of childhood diseases. The Faculty emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and professional ethics, preparing graduates for successful careers as pediatricians in Russia and internationally.
